First off, I’m going to start by saying that I’ve never been one of those people that has really strict study plans and everything needs to be completed by a certain date (unless it was university finals). Honestly if I can just get a little done everyday, I’m generally satisfied.
That being said, I’ve been trying my best to set a more structured plan to cover all the different aspects of language learning. I do have a calendar that I try to add general weekly goals, but I don’t write down daily goals. I also don’t track my study by time spent on each section. That’s too much work for me.
The Materials I’m currently using are:
新完全マスターN2文法
新完全マスターN2語彙
N2単語2500
一回で合格N2読解
I try to do exercises or memorization from all the books, but not everyday. I switch off between them. Also, I can’t do more textbooks than this at one time. I personally know that I’m not going to retain more than this.
I will use the にほんご500問 after I finish the other books. I plan on also buying the 新完全マスターN2読解 as the N3 version worked quite well for me.
I am a big fan of 新完全マスター(Shin Kanzen Master) series, so I recommend them to everyone. I’ve used the reading, grammar, and now vocabulary one. Mainly because the way these textbooks are broken down makes a lot of sense to me. And it’s hard at first, but you get used to the difficulty level. If you have any questions about these books, I can try to answer.
I’ve also been using Quizlet, Anki, and jlptsensei.com to review both grammar points and vocabulary. I’m definitely more of an old-fashion paper studier compared to digital, but I am starting to rely on digital more and more. The active recall aspect is something that I found I really need with N2 material.
